It’s Alta Performing Art’s mission is to inspire students to be bold, take risks, and find joy through dance and musical theater, alike. To learn the importance of storytelling through dance, singing, and acting. Monique’s upbeat and distinct teaching style has created a vast following of young professional dancers and performing artists around the country.

Miss Monique

Founder, Studio Director, Dance Instruction, Musical Theater Instruction

Monique Altamirano is a national award-winning choreographer, dance instructor, and musical theater director.

Monique has worked professionally in the entertainment industry as an actress, singer, and dancer. A musical theater + dance graduate from The Boston Conservatory at Berklee, and an agency-represented, proud member of The Actor’s Equity Association. Monique has been featured in film, print, television, original cast recordings and national touring companies. She has helped foster the careers of aspiring young performers…

Monique’s most recent professional choreography credits include performances with James Corden (Late Night w/James Corden), Kenny Loggins, and Ben Platt. EMMY AWARD WINNING Regional Documentary, Celebrating The Music of Footloose under the musical direction of GRAMMY AWARD WINNER, Kenny Loggins & Adderley’s Into The Woods, guest starring Jack Dylan Grazer; Disney/Pixar’s Luca. Monique has also backed NFL & NBA specialty-production choreography.

Recent Credits of students under her direction: Netflix Original Films, The Disney Channel, Nickelodeon, HBO, American Idol, Lifetime TV’s ‘Dance Moms’, various Motion Picture Films, Broadway Tours & Productions.

Monique has taught for over 20 years, nationwide from Boston, Los Angeles, New York City, Santa Barbara, Texas, Montecito, and the greater Bay Area. Leading competitive dancers and teams to achieve National and Regional Awards + Titles. She is a guest instructor for the acclaimed Adderley School, under the direction of her mentor and Broadway icon, Janet Adderley.

  • She has coached students both undergrads & alumni : Fordham University : Alvin Ailey, Boston Conservatory at Berklee, NYU Tish, UCLA, Manhattan School of Music, Yale School of Drama.

Miss Jade

Dance Instruction

Miss Jade has a lifelong love and passion for dance and is thrilled to start this season with Alta Performing Arts! She is a Hall of Fame National Dance Champion who has trained under some of the industry's top choreographers and teachers. Focusing in dance and classic training at Oakland School of the Arts, she is currently a Teacher and Dance Competition coach at Triple Threat Performing Arts. Her strong technical background and artistry has earned Miss Jade 10 National Champions around the world with 11 Titles.

Her approach to class is to help dancers build a strong foundation, to motivate and empowering students to have fun through movement, discover their confidence and shine! Miss Jade is so excited pass along her wealth of knowledge to Alta's young performing artists and is honored to be a part of the team!

Miss Mimi

Dance Instruction

Miss Mimi is celebrating her first year with Alta Performing Arts. She attended the University of Santa Cruz where she studied Dance. She has been dancing since the age of 6 and has over 20+ years of Dance Teaching experience.

Mimi is a sought-after dance teacher in the Bay Area, popular for her ballet/lyrical and contemporary styles. She has both trained competitively and has been a Dance Teacher at Yoko’s Dance and Performing Arts. During her time with the studio, Mimi has won national championships served as Ambassador to Fremont's sister city, and performed in Japan. Her experience in dance has allowed her to act as Competition Team Coach, Choreographer, and Instructor at various competitive studios around the Bay Area.

Mimi is very excited to meet all of Alta Performing Art’s dancers and performers for our 2024-2025 Season!
